Enjoy the elegance and authenticity of antique furniture, admire the high carved teak front door, or niches and hand-carved friezes that adorn every room. Woven carpets, old chests, unique items from some of antique dealers in, Mombasa, Nairobi and Lamu, all elegantly furnish a refined interior from where one experiences a very real serenity. Outside in the garden, palm trees, ilangs ylang, frangipani and bougainvillea bring a final touch of vibrant, fluttering, color and fragrance. 5 employees, one of whom is a truly excellent cook, are there to take care of everything you need, and of you. They do the shopping, prepare all meals, can organize your day’s activities, excursions, clean the rooms, clean and tidy the house, maintain the pool.

The Forodhani House team is remarkably discreet, efficient, and wonderfully friendly too. Your cook will suggest menus; he knows how to prepare excellent international cuisine mixed with delicious plates of seafood, sushi or traditional Swahili cuisine. For breakfast, fresh bread daily, pancakes, eggs, bacon, home pressed fresh fruit juice, strong coffee and fine tea. You can also enjoy a relaxing massage or beauty treatment provided by Mercy or Betty, at home, as well as yoga classes, which also can be taken inside Forodhani House if you so wish.

A large plasma screen, a DVD player and video projector, a few good films for cosy relaxing, a hi-fi system and iPod bases, some CDs, you need music, books in French and English, board games…. All can be found inside Forodhani House. Your welcome from the airport to the house and of course throughout your stay, will be taken care of with attentive care of Babu British, a dear friend who knows everyone here, he’ll take care of you and your guests, carefully organizing anything you might need or the how to for any place you might like to visit.

Forodhani House is perfect to rent for 2, 4, 6 or 8 people, but the house also easily accommodates 2 or 3 families, up to 10-13 guests.

It is also suitable for weddings, honeymoons, birthday parties … we know how to organize these events beautifully, seamlessly.

There are many different living areas through out the house allowing everyone a quiet peaceful Shela moment as well as the conviviality of being together. The large lounge by the pool, the garden, the large terrace overlooking the sea, or the dining room, there is plenty of room!

Five bedrooms, all with en-suite bathroom and an adjoining terrace. Sunny or shady there are multiple terraces, at all levels to sit and enjoy the tranquility of Shela, relax, read, think, dream … or there’s the pool, fresh water here, or salt sea water at the foot of beach house, the choice is yours!
